So. It's been a busy past few days.
Thursday morning I left for the 2010 ABPG Retreat... (work)... I admit I wasn't super excited about going and especially not about leaving Eden for two days. But I'm glad I went. Not only did I learn everything about the history of the company, but I had a lot of fun and got to know people in the company better. And my team (Go Turks!) came soo close to winning the overall challenges competition. That's ok. Second place is good too :)
A few highlights:
Our teams built boats out of basically nothing but cardboard and tape. Amazingly, almost all of them floated with someone inside. Ours was especially sturdy!
I learned it is acceptable to serve pig in every possible cooked form at one single meal. Who knew?
I was recognized for my one year anniversary at ABPG and given a pen with my name engraved on it. How sweet :)
I learned that we are still affiliated with the Arkansas Times and they are big-time moochers. Oops, did I just type that?
Anyway, moving on...
Then today I worked the Little Rock Family booth at Dino Dash, a family-friendly 5K downtown. I took Eden along, which wasn't the best idea I've ever had, but there was no way I was leaving her again. We worked from 8:30-10:30 this morning handing bean bags to potential throwers and giving out candy.
The climax of the morning was when I smelled an undeniable stench of poo and had to figure out where I was gonna change a diaper on a crowded street. I decided to stroller her down to the River Market and go in the bathroom at Boulevard Bread. And lo and behold, the changing station in that restroom was conveniently located RIGHT in front of the three sinks. So everyone needing to wash their hands had to maneuver their way around us and see and smell my daughter's poop. How lovely.
Anyway, we got it done and made our way back to our workstation. Eden even got a picture with Mr. Dino Dash himself, thanks to the suggestion of my friend Mark Friedman (yay, Mark! you made the blog :) )
We even got a visit from my hubby this morning, who was down the street participating in the Fight For Air fundraiser. (He got second place out of all the firefighters participating, and his team got first! Go him!)
Overall, we had a good time. I anticipate more Dino Dashes, and the like, in our future. But they will probably be post-diapers.
