Humor Me

As if there haven't already been enough blog posts and Facebook updates about Eden's first birthday, let me post one more. I realized I never posted about Eden's actual birthday (not her party day) so I'm going to flash back a couple of weeks and fill you in on what we did... humor me, will you?

We (Tyler, Eden and I) started the day with lunch at Chick Fil-A. I requested lunch spot ideas via Facebook the day before and got some great suggestions from friends, but when it came down to it, we wanted something between us and our destination (Museum of Discovery- LR), and there is just no denying that Chick Fil-A is as kid-friendly as they come. We had such a sweet little lunch... Mom, Dad and Baby. We spread out one of the stick-on placemats that Chick Fil-A provides (another reason why I love the place) and served Eden a REAL Kids' Meal! More proof that she really is growing up!

She loved it. She was so happy eating her little torn up waffle fries and chicken nuggets :) And she got a cute little book as her toy, which she also loved. And let me just throw in one more shameless plug for Chick Fil-A (they're not paying me for this, I promise.) They're just so darn friendly. The workers kept coming by to make sure we were ok and to comment on our "precious little girl," which automatically scored major points with me, of course!

After we ate, we peeked into the kids' play area. I had never before been inside a Chick Fil-A play area and had no idea it was so toddler-friendly.

She SO didn't want to leave this cool block-turning, animal-matching thing.

But we had more to do and see! After lunch was the big event of the day- a trip to Museum of Discovery. And I'll just be honest. This is the real reason for this post- to give you a chance (if you haven't already) to read Eden's first blog post on the Museum of Discovery's blog! This was such a neat opportunity, and I, ahem... I mean, Eden had so much fun writing it!

Since that tells you all about our trip to the museum, I'll now fast forward to what we did next. A visit to Cupcakes on Kavanaugh. I LOVE their cupcakes. I've had them a few times, and they are hands-down the best cupcakes in the entire universe (again, didn't get paid for that), but I had never been in the actual shop, like to sit down and eat there. When we pulled up, I thought I was never going to get Tyler inside. He kept saying that all he saw were girls or he didn't fit in or blah blah blah. Finally, I got him inside and he, I believed, really enjoyed it. We all three shared two cupcakes: Ghirardelli Square and Sweet Potato. Both were A-MAZ-ING. And the nice lady at the counter even gave us a free candle for our Little Birthday Girl.

After our yummy cupcakes, we made a quick trip to Toys R Us to get the Birthday Girl's present, which we are getting lots of use out of!
To sum it up, it was just a really fun day. There was no stress and no arguing, just sweet family memories being made. In fact, Tyler called me the next day and said, "I had so much fun yesterday. Probably one of my top 5 days ever."

:-) Now that just makes me smile.
