Well, right now this diamond is really, really rough.
You've also been told that things have to get worse before they get better, right?
Well that little piece of wisdom most definitely applies to the house remodeling process as well.
With that said, here is the house this week, looking worse than before.
This week my dad and Tyler tore down all the paneling in the living room, leaving layer after layer of wallpaper, cardboard and general disgustingness. My dad also tore out the 8-foot ceiling, raising it to 10 feet. This gives the living room a much more dramatic look upon entering and just makes it feel bigger. ONCE IT'S ALL SHEETROCKED, I think it's going to look really nice.
Another thing they did was tear out the closet in the middle (blue) bedroom.
|This is the wall where the closet was. The bathroom is right on the other side of it.|
The other main thing accomplished this week was a lot of tearing out in the utility room. It was full of junky cabinets and mess from the ceiling that had fallen, and all of that is gone now.
You can't really tell from the picture, but this is a fairly large room. The plan is to make the front half of it another bathroom (kids/guest bathroom), and the back half will be utility room. And a door will be added where that window is so we'll have a door going into the backyard.
So there it is... It make look like we're taking one step forward two steps back, but that's just part of the process of progress.
At least that's what I'm told :)
