Friday we had Eden's "Camping Birthday Party" in our yard.
50 % chance of rain.
I worried about it all day, and just as it was time for the party to start, clouds moved overhead and the sky darkened. We knew we'd better hurry. The kids didn't notice though. They played hard for as long as they could.
I know, right? Fun stuff.
All our hot dogs were courtesy of Petit Jean Meats, an Arkansas-based company, which was awesome enough to donate. Did you know they make hot dogs? They have the red, kid-friendly kind, or these yummy Jumbo Grillers. They were all delish and were a hit at the party.
Trying to beat the rain, we rushed through eating and singing "Happy Birthday" as fast as we could. I hate that we had to rush it. This girl had been looking forward to her "Camping Party" for sooo long. But I know she still had a good time.
After blowing out the candles, the rain moved in, and everyone rushed in the house and moved the party inside. Let's just say my house is not big enough for that kind of fun. It was chaotic. But worth it.
A break in the rain did allow for us to go back outside and do a short hayride and nature hunt, which the kids seemed to love. So all wasn't lost.
After that, it was more rain and more inside-birthday-chaos. But that's ok. Eden had fun and that's all that matters.
After all, it was her day. And it was a good one.
