Perfection

Y'all.

I'm taking a huge risk by even telling you this. Every Momma knows if you say out loud (or blog) something good your kid is doing, there's a good chance they'll stop said (or blogged) behavior.

However.

Selah has been doing this for so long now, I think I may be in the clear.

She is sleeping through the night!!!!!!!

I'm still somewhat in disbelief. I find myself holding back from telling every person I see, and from doing any celebratory dances, because I keep thinking surely this good phase is going to end. After all, my children do not sleep.

But ever since I wrote this post, it was like God had mercy on me, and almost immediately, my tiny girl started sleeping better. Granted, she still has nights now and then when she wakes up once, but to me, that still feels like sleeping through the night. With Eden, I was up about 4 times a night at this point (and throughout the first year!), so I seriously feel like I have died and gone to Sleep Heaven. And I love it.

I feel like Selah is the most perfect baby. She is so sweet natured and laid back. And she loves watching and smiling at her family. She gives the sweetest smiles, especially to her big sister.

And her big sissy LOVES giving her kisses! I have been surprised by how whole-heartedly Eden has loved her baby sister. She's never really been jealous at all. It's probably the greatest thing on earth to watch these two love each other.

Regardless, I wouldn't trade these two for all the sleep in the world. To me, they're both pretty perfect.

On Potty Training (or lack thereof)

In a couple weeks, Eden will officially be 2 1/2..... and she has yet to pee one. single. drop. in a potty.

When I got pregnant with Selah, I decided it was a good time to buy Eden a potty chair and teach her to use it. After all, I didn't want to have two in diapers. And since Eden could already count to 20 in English, to 3 in Spanish, and practically came out of the womb identifying her colors..... potty training, I thought, would be easy.

Unfortunately, Eden decided that using the potty was something she just didn't want to do. Period. For no particular reason. In fact, she would go into small hysterics when we even suggested she try it.

"No, I don't like the potty! I don't like the potty!!!"

(Granted, this girl is sensitive about things in the bathroom...)

Up 'til now, I haven't really pressed the potty thing. Everyone says she will do it when she's ready. Plus, we've been moving and having a new baby, and serious potty training just hasn't seemed feasible. But let's be honest. Even ATTEMPTING to hoist my tall, 2 1/2 year old onto a changing table in a public restroom is getting ridiculous and embarrassing. I mean her feet hang off the end, and she can practically change her own diaper at this point. Plus, I recently bought our first package of size FIVE diapers. That was somewhere I never thought we'd go. But alas, here we are: purchasing bookoodles of diapers for two children. Some that are tiny and cute. And some that look like they would fit me.

I guess we have had one small step forward, though, as my sister has recently gotten Eden to actually sit on the potty a couple of times (a big step for a child who formerly acted like the thing would eat her bootie). Her auntie just pulls out the trusty iPhone, lets her watch YouTube videos, and she'll agree to drop her pants and sit there all day long.

But don't be fooled by the cute smile. This girl ain't doing her job.

Not even a drop.

What's your best potty training advice?
