A Busy, Blessed Easter

How was your Easter? Ours was busy but wonderful, except for the fact that the hubby had to work. I hate doing holidays without him. He did get to be there for the kids' church egg hunt on Saturday, though, so I was thankful for that. It was a sweet little mid-morning get-together with mostly church kids, a resurrection craft, snacks and an egg hunt with an Easter message. Some of the eggs had slips of paper in them with pictures of different parts of the Easter story. So after the hunt, the kids all gathered round, opened up their eggs, and listened as an adult told the Easter story using the pictures they had found.

Sunday morning was hectic as always as I wrangled two toddlers alone, but somehow we managed to get breakfast, open Easter baskets, get cute (my girls looked adorable!), and still get to church in time for Sunday School. And yes. I did tell my girls their baskets were "from the Easter Bunny." I have mixed feelings about the whole mythical-creature-interrupts-Christian-holiday thing, and I may not do it forever, but at this young age, it still felt ok. (We've been talking about this subject over on my Facebook page, so join in if you have thoughts!)

They loved their baskets, which were mostly full of art supplies
We had a wonderful church service, and I felt very blessed to worship a risen Lord! Because He LIVES, everything else has meaning, doesn't it? The children also did a sweet song performance with motions, and the little ones were supposed to bring something to represent what they want to be when they grow up. Eden wanted to be a drummer! Of all things she could have chosen, my girl was holding drum sticks and was as proud as she could be.

Selah Bear wasn't feeling too well, but she was still so cute!
After church, we had a big family lunch with all the cousins and extended family. Our family has gotten so big, we have to have gatherings at the church to accommodate everyone comfortably.

Eden with her BFF/cousin, Ella. These two are in love.
Can we just talk about how IMPOSSIBLE it is to get these two to smile TOGETHER?
After a long lunch, we went home, got quick naps, and headed back to the church for another church fellowship: cheese dip, desserts and volleyball. So yes, it was a long, tiring day, but I much prefer those kind to the sit-at-home ones. And what's more worth celebrating than the resurrection of our Lord?!
"...and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name." Romans 1:4-5
