I started saying bedtime prayers with Eden shortly after she turned two. They have always been one of my favorite parts of the day. But lately, I've been feeling a little stuck-in-a-rut. When we first started "Bedtime Prayers," Eden was young, so I simply asked her to repeat after me. It seemed like the easiest way to start. But this girl is a girl of routine, and since "repeat-after-me" is the way we've always done it, getting her to actually pray on her own has been about impossible. That's just one reason why I was so excited about my first resource from Tommy Nelson Mommies.

As soon as I got this book in the mail, I fell in love with it. Isn't it cute? It's got a padded cover with a handle for carrying. And it's packed full of cute illustrations and rhymes. The book is perfect for preschool age and essentially teaches kids how to pray. It teaches kids that they can pray anywhere (the park, the bath, in bed), anytime (morning, day or night), with anyone (mom, dad, friends), and about anything.

Eden loves the book (especially the pictures!), and I've been using it to the best of my ability to get us out of our repeat-after-me rut. We're not "there" by any means, but we have made some progress. I have emphasized the line in the book that says "you don't have to use big words, anything will do," and I've managed to get her to say a line or two of her own. We've also been working on confessing to God when you've done something wrong... and although I usually have to remind her what she did wrong that day (ha!), she has confessed a few things to God and told Him she was sorry in her own words.

So we'll keep working on it, and I'll let you know when the anticipated day comes that my girl is saying her own, complete prayers!

And now for the best part... you can win a copy of this book too! Are you a Boy Mom? No problem! Whoever wins this giveaway can simply request if they'd rather receive Prayers for Girls or Prayers for Boys, and Tommy Nelson will meet your request :)
