What better time to teach your kids the importance of giving than at the onset of the holiday season? Start the season of giving off right by getting involved in the Champions for Kids #SimpleGiving project going on at Walmart until Nov. 11. If you've never gotten involved in a Champions for Kids project before -- they're simple (if you didn't get that already).
All you have to do is pick up the designated items on the purple pallets at Walmart, purchase them, and drop them in the purple donation bin as you leave the store. Champions for Kids will do the rest and distribute the items to local kids in need.
How simple is that?!
This month's project includes purchasing Unilever and Kimberly Clark personal care items, like Kleenex, handwipes, Dial soap, shampoo and deodorant. I took Selah along and explained to her (in under 2-year-old terms) that we would be giving these items to kids who needed them. She nodded enthusiastically and chose her items to donate :)
Her favorite part, though, was dropping the items in the donation bin after we purchased them. She was bummed we didn't have more stuff to drop in.
I've asked all my "real-life" friends to get involved, and now I'm asking you: will you spend the extra five minutes and dollars it takes to pick up some products and drop them in the purple bin? It's not much, but it's something. And every "something" matters. It's just the right way to start off this holiday season.
