Sometimes I struggle to teach my little bitty girls about our great big God. I know it's difficult for them to grasp concepts like Heaven, eternity and the cross. But I do my best to give them as much information as I feel they can handle at a time and hope that, eventually, all the pieces will come together in their hearts. Mostly, I hope they know and understand that our great big God loves little bitty them. They may be children and they may be small, but He loves them with an everlasting love, and if they can just believe that, for now, we'll be doing ok.
This month we received a book from Tommy Nelson called Itsy Bitsy Christmas, and I love the storyline because it does just that. It teaches kids that God (Jesus the King) came for everyone! He came for the grumpy, He came for the doubters, and He came for the itsy bitsy ones too. In the story, there are two little mice, siblings Itsy and Bitsy, who are told that a King is coming to Bethlehem! Ecstatic, they set off to find Him. Along the way though, they are met with discouraging words telling them they are too little and unimportant for any king. Just when Itsy and Bitsy begin to believe they really aren’t important enough, they find the King and His love, which is big enough for everyone.
(There are also free coloring sheets you can print that go along with the story!)
I'm giving away one copy of this precious book, just in time for the Christmas season. To enter, leave a comment telling me ways you explain God, Jesus and/or the Christmas story to your little ones. For additional entries, Like me on Facebook and Follow me on Twitter. I'll announce a winner this Friday, Nov. 22.
