New "Grandma Season"

I am a member of the Tommy Nelson Mommies for Thomas Nelson, Inc. As a member of this group, I receive products for my use and to review at no charge to me. I receive no monetary compensation for my participation. All opinions are my own.

We have entered a new "Grandma Season" around here. For the past five years, my mom (my girls' Mimi) has watched them two days a week while I worked. Her house has always been their second home -- the place they are perfectly comfortable, have their own routines, and even their own toothbrushes. But now, with Eden in school, things are changing. Eden won't be spending her weekdays there, and in accordance with my work schedule, Selah will only be spending 1-2 mornings there per week.

For everything there is a season, right? This is a continual lesson in life. My mom will always be the one I trust above all others to rock my babies, feed their tummies, and say prayers with them. But the truth is, they're not babies anymore. They're growing girls with budding independence and slowly but surely, I can trust more people (and teachers and administrators) with their care. As my mom said recently, we are probably approaching a more "typical grandma relationship." The girls may no longer spend extended week days at her house, but they may be more likely to spend the night on a weekend or get picked up by her after school because their mama's running late. Things change and seasons shift, and we'll enjoy each one as it comes.

In another change of season -- the girls' Nana Jo (my mother-in-law) is in the process of moving in next door to us. This will be a big change as she has always lived in another town but one we are all excited about. The girls adore their Nana Jo, her playful spirit, and her cookie jar, and they can't wait to have her in walking distance. I feel so blessed to have two grandmas for my girls who are absolutely as great as they come. My girls are so very loved and cared about, and I know it will only be for their betterment as they grow up.

Today, I am giving away a new Tommy Nelson book called Grandma Kisses. This sweet book is perfect for grandmas and grandkids to curl up and read together. With rhyming text and colorful illustrations of furry grandmas and their little ones, it's a great addition to any collection (especially for ages 1-4). Each page reminds us of the special role grandmas play in children's lives. To enter to win, leave a comment telling me what you love about your kids' grandma. Then enter via Rafflecopter below.
