You may have noticed that our family didn't go to camp at Pine Cove this summer. I was pretty bummed about it all year. But a couple months ago, I got to looking around on the Pine Cove site and noticed there was a mother/daughter weekend coming up at The Bluffs (the Pine Cove camp we attended). I was thrilled! The conference, it said, was for mothers and daughters in grades K-6 and I decided this would make the perfect get-away for me and my new school girl. And a little pacifier for at least two of us who were still disappointed about not going to family camp.
After calling and getting put on a long wait list, I was ecstatic to get word a couple weeks ago that we WERE IN.
Me and my big girl are headed back to Pine Cove this weekend!
According to the Pine Cove site, these parent/child conferences (they also offer mother/son, father/daughter and father/son) offer a chance for parents to deepen their relationships with their kids. Conferences include outstanding speakers and fun activities like horseback riding, ziplining, swimming and much more. This weekend will be a chance for me to focus on one thing: my firstborn child. I can't wait.
And the next best thing -- we will be reuniting this weekend with our favorite family camp family!
We met this sweet family at camp last summer and they have been dear friends of ours ever since. (We're crazy about the whole family -- Mom, Dad, and all three kiddos) but are especially excited that Mom and her kindergartener daughter will be joining us at this retreat! It will be the perfect Pine Cove reunion.
Eden is absolutely giddy with excitement. We've been whispering and giggling about it all week (keeping it a secret for as long as possible from her sister). And when I told her that her sweet long distance friend and her mommy would be joining us, Eden about lost it. "I can't believe it!" she kept saying.
Of course, I'll tell you all about our weekend when we return. And I'll have another Pine Cove memory (and blog post) to tuck away and cherish forever.
